Why Should I Get My GED?
  • According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, adults who acquire a GED earn $8,451 more per year than adults who never completed high school.
  • Projected over an expected work life of 40 years, this difference totals $338,040 for each GED graduate
  • "The GED is a beginning not an end." The GED becomes the turning point in many adults' lives.
  • 79% of GED graduates engage in formal or informal education or training after completing their GED goals! 49% will enroll in college. 93% of those entering college will do so immediately after obtaining their GED.
  • GED graduates see a dramatic drop (from 30 percent to three percent) in Welfare and Food Stamp usage after participating in Adult Education.

Is Distance Learning Right for Me?
Studying from home – also called Distance Learning – works well for adults who are motivated and want to work on their own time. Below are some questions that ask your feelings about certain things. Answer these questions honestly. They may determine your success or failure in a distance learning program like "GED for Me!"
  1. How do you feel about working by yourself?
  2. Are you able to solve problems alone?
  3. Are you comfortable communicating via email and telephone with a tutor or instructor?
  4. Do you have a strong desire to take this course and to get your GED?
  5. Will you be able to keep yourself on track with weekly assignments, workbook activities and communication with your tutor?
  6. Do you understand it is your responsibility to get the work completed on time?
  7. Will you be able to work on the course materials several hours a week?
  8. Will you be able to create a schedule for yourself and prioritize your activities to stay on track?
  9. Will you follow the schedule once you make it?
  10. Do you have a support system – friends, family, co-workers who can help keep you on track if you begin to struggle?

GED for Me! is an award-winning online GED prepartion program. GED for Me! does not issue GED certificates or high school diplomas. The GED cannot be obtained online. The GED can only be obtained by successfully completing tests in the five subject areas in person at official test centers. The GED Tests are administered by the American Council of Education. GED for Me! students, who successfully pass their online practice test upon course completion are scheduled to take their GED Tests at an official testing center in their home community.
